If you ask the average man what type of jewelry he would want to buy for himself he typically would give you a blank stare followed up with a shrug that just says “I don’t know”. If you asked the same man what type of jewelry his significant other likes, he could probably give you a full list of what she likes, dislikes, and for what holiday/ event she likes them for. The reason for this is simple, most guys out there buy a lot more jewelry for their significant others than they do for themselves. In fact, most men have probably never even walked into an orange county jewelry store to buy themselves something. While this situation works wonderfully for you when it comes time to buy jewelry for your significant other, but when it comes time to look for your own wedding ring, you may find yourself in a little bit of a pickle.
Here’s the thing about buying yourself a wedding ring: it’s not as big of a deal as you think it may be. Are you going to be wearing it for the rest of your life? Absolutely. But in the scheme of things, you should be worrying about the ring you are going to be getting for your wife. While a women’s wedding ring will contain karat’s worth of diamonds and complex designs, men’s wedding rings are typically a bit simpler. In fact, tradition men’s wedding rings typically feature nothing ore then a gold or silver band.
Just because it’s simple doesn’t mean that you can just go with the first thing that you find, though. Finding the right wedding ring is all about doing your research and trying to find the piece that best encapsulates what you want. Let’s face it: you may not want to do a lot of looking around, but the truth is if you don’t do it then you will be sorry. You can take a look online to try and find what is available on the market, and then plan to visit four or five different jewelry stores to look at physical specimens of rings. You can do this in conjunction with trying to find rings for your wife was well.
One quick note about price: you don’t want to spend an arm and a leg on a men’s wedding ring, but what you do want to do is spend your money wisely. Keep an eye out for deals that you can find on high quality rings so that you can get your cake and eat it too, so to say.
Kim Green thinks orange county jewelry is some of the most beautiful in the country.
Jewelry shopping has the unofficial stigma of being predominately something that only women enjoy doing. If one thinks about the varying situations in which jewelry shopping is done, it is true most of the time it is spent looking for the perfect gift or symbol of admiration for the lady in one’s life. Thus, it does make sense for the stigma to be applied to begin with. And in very many cases, men dread the thought of jewelry shopping. This is due mainly to the financial ties.
While shopping in Southern California, browsing all Orange County jewelry stores, it has become apparent that nowadays many men accompany their friends or family members when trying to locate the perfect ring. What is the reasoning for this? The answer is rather simple. Jewelry, especially rings, serve as a great symbolic meaning to women, and fortunately men are aware of this, and in-turn want to make the correct statement with the appropriate jewelry piece.
For example, when trying to locate the perfect engagement ring, one needs to the ability to find just the right one. This needs to accurately reflect the soon-to-be-bride, yet also capture something she would love and appreciate. After all, this would be the most important purchase in one’s life, thus having friends and family accompany to the jewelry store for some input is almost a definite must.
It is a rule of thumb that a one is to spend around three months pay to locate the perfect pricing for an engagement ring. But at times, many do not follow this guideline and choose to go unlimited in the ring selection process, or prefer to opt for a more budgetary form of choosing the perfect ring. Regardless of the method used, one must bear in mind that the ring will not only be something worn for the rest of the bride’s life, but will also have a large symbolic meaning attached to it. This symbol of everlasting love will make the ring something more precious than anything ever owned before.
Finding the perfect girl is a difficult task. Find the perfect ring to give her doesn’t have to be. Thus, when shopping for an engagement ring one needs to be sure to locate a reputable jewelry store. Ask a variety of questions to test the waters, and to ensure that the sales representatives are not only familiar with their own product, but have a firm grasp of knowledge in all engagement rings in general. A skilled jewelry representative will be familiar with all products, not just their own.
Overall, jewelry shopping can be a fun process if approached correctly. One should try to eliminate the worry of the financial burden that it may hold, but rather focus on the women who will be wearing it. In addition, the meaning behind the jewelry piece will make the financial obligation, as well as the process far more enjoyable.

Sometimes, a city or region can become so big that it ceases to be just a location and instead becomes a way of life. While places like New York City, Chicago and Los Angeles all have a larger than life persona that makes the city a pop culture icon in its own right. While those cities have had decades to earn a persona, sometimes a region will just burst onto the scene and become the new “it” location. This is what happened in the early 21st century to the Orange County, California region. For about five years it seemed that everything was “Orange County this, Orange County that”. There were Orange County television shows, Orange County lifestyles, Orange County jewelry, Orange County fashion. You saw it in magazines and in movies, it become the locale that everyone was talking about. I even heard that someone in the county wanted to change the name of the airport to “The O.C. Airport” (that got voted down).
I bring this whole thing up because I have a friend who lives in Orange County that was telling me how all this attention really caused more harm than good to the county. She explained to me that while it brought in some tourist dollars, people automatically got the wrong impression that everyone who lives in Orange County is a stuck up, heartless jerk. I assume it’s the same thing someone from New York must feel about the way that “Seinfeld” made all New Yorkers look weird and self absorbed, or how Seattle is a bunch of coffee drinking yuppies. She complained that when she traveled people treated her differently, like she “had it all”. It also became more expensive to live in Orange County, thanks to the attention, as people started coming in and overpaying for property and services.
I did not grow up in Orange County, but I have visited a number of times to see friends and go to theme parks and such. I agree partly with what she said about how all the attention has changed the area, except that I haven’t really noticed people treating Orange County-ites differently. I think most people understand that the characters on the shows and in movies were just that: characters. Just because the kids on “The Hills” were stuck up doesn’t mean the rest of the county was. It is per capita one of the richest counties in the nation, but at the same time people understand that there are as many have have-nots as haves. As for the property value: yeah, that sucks, but it’s the same thing that happened in New York. People want to live in the city (for some ungodly reason) and they are willing to pay more to do that. Chances are in a few years the prices will even out, unless they keep renewing “The Hills”, which I really, really hope they don’t.

I heard a story of a man popping the question to his girlfriend at a crowded McDonalds. It worked for him, but is it a great idea for everybody else?
I heard an interesting story the other day. Over lunch my friend told me the story about how her brother proposed to his girlfriend. The guy got down on his knee in front of a crowded restaurant and asked her for her hand. She cried, dabbed her eyes and said “Oh course”. They embraced and the whole restaurant broke out into applause.
Sounds beautiful right? Well the way she told it is was. Of course, what she didn’t tell me until the end of this story was that the crowded restaurant was none other than a McDonalds.
Now, if you ask me where you could get custom engagement rings in Orange County I could probably give you a few good answers. Where should you propose? I’ll give you a couple of pretty solid pieces of advice. But popping the question at McDonalds? Well, you better know what you’re doing.
The reason why this particular proposal worked is that the couple had a history at McDonalds. These kind of wacky proposals only seem to work if there is a history there and the girl finds it cute. This couple actually had their first date at a McDonalds and her favorite treat is a McDonald’s sundae. So for this couple it worked, but if you’re going to do it you better know what you’re doing or it would be a disaster.
I’ve head friends of mine pop the question at Disneyland. Disneyland is always a fairly safe bet (as long as she loves the place) because it is a place of magic and wonder. Plus, if you let Disney know beforehand they will help you out with special arrangements and assistance on the special moment.
Theme parks can always been kinda tricky because of the logistics of having a romantic moment in a place that sees tens of thousands a people per day. Expect big crowds wherever you go in the park so make sure to have a plan before hand… then have a backup plan because you don’t want to be left in a lurch when your favorite ride is closed down on that day. If your women is into romance then pop the question during dinner at one of the theme parks classier restaurants. Trust me, women want romance. If she says she doesn’t then she is lying. Also, make sure you do it at a time when it will still be a surprise. If you’re terrible at keeping a secret then don’t wait till the end of the day to pop the question. That would lead to a very long and stressful day for the both of you.

Hollywood sure likes to make shows that take place in Orange County. May it be scripted or reality, these shows may give people the wrong opinion of the place many call home.
What has Orange County, Ca. contributed to the entertainment landscape of the country? For most, Orange County is known as a place of riches and excess, full of beautiful Orange County jewelry and even more beautiful Orange County people. The reason for this idea? Television. While many residents might point out the many companies that call the OC home as well as industrial contributions and the many fine arts and cultural establishments that blankets the county, many people will never even consider any sort of sophistication because of what they have viewed on TV.
While many people might point to the FOX show “The OC” for showing Orange County as a place of self-centeredness and excess, I would like to point out that the show actually featured well rounded characters who all seemed to have their hearts in the right place. Sure, there were soap opera moments of sex and greed, but in the end I never found the show as anything more that people who had issues ultimately trying to do the right thing.
Now, if you want a show that really made Orange County residents look self centered, you can look no further then the MTV reality show Laguna Beach. Starring such luminaries as Lauren Conrad, Stephanie Pratt and Spencer Pratt (is it sad that I didn’t even have to look up their names, I just knew them off the top of my head *shudder*), “Laguna Beach” showed these “typical” Orange County residents doing what “most” Orange Countians spend their time doing such as going to the beach, buying stuff at Fashion Island (think Orange County’s Rodeo Drive), getting makeovers and spending a lot of time talking about stuff. A lot of time. I can’t stress how much time was spent talking. Anyway, while “The OC” made Orange County look glamorous, this show made the people look egotistical and stuck up. And while some are, it does not represent most people. If anything it did make people from The OC famous, not the actors but the residents. One of my friends from Orange County went to France and actually signed an autograph by someone who was star struck that she lived in the county. True story.
While the best show about Orange County still remains the brilliant “Arrested Development” (the show had so many inside jokes about Orange County it’s obvious someone really knew their county), reality shows have made big business shooting the OC. Shows like the Laguna Beach-sequel “The Hills” (in Laguna Hills) and “The Real Housewives of the OC” continue to show the rich side of the county. It may be entertaining, but don’t think that it’s anywhere near what people are really like there.
