February 24th, 2011 Taking Advice from Peter Pan

The classic film Peter Pan is loved and known by many. This inspirational film brought back the idea to many adults of the enchantment of never having to grow up and being able to remain a child indefinitely. Famous pop star Michael Jackson idolized this thought and created a Neverland in Santa Barbara, California. It is no wonder that many adults strive to reconnect with their youthful days, and childhood innocence. During the days of being a kid, one did not have many worries other than being the first to race their bike to the end of the block, or avoiding stepping on cracks while walking down a sidewalk.

What can one do in order to reconnect with that lost childhood train of thought? Peter Pan may suggest flying to Neverland and staying indefinitely, and forgetting life as an adult. Although an enchanting thought, one may opt for something much simpler. Wearing favorite Disney character costumes can bring the spark back and give the opportunity to reflect in childhood days. By daunting on such a magical costume, not only will children enjoy the powerful and mystic enchantment that it brings, but Adults will also be reminded of Disney’s inspiration to many.

It is known that Halloween comes only but once a year and locating Disney character influenced costume attire can be a rather difficult task. Fortunately there is a website that specializes in Disney character costumes all year round. The premier online retailer supplies a large variety of costume choices not only for children but also adults. This website provides the opportunity for children and parents to bond over similar interests. Not only this, but adults will be able to relieve childhood memories and become their favorite character whenever the costume is worn.

Costume choices on the website range from beloved princess such as Arielle from The Little Mermaid, Belle from Beauty and Beast, and Cinderella from the inspirational classic film. Not only this, but the Disney website also carries a variety of Peter Pan costumes. And of course, variations of the beloved Tinker Bell is also available.

Overall, though it is understood that once one has reached adulthood, going back to the childhood ways is not something that is always possible. Though at times, very tempting, cannot always be done. It is believed that though Michael Jackson may have taken the moral of the Peter Pan story rather literal, there may have been another underlying meaning. It is noted that in the film the father of the children claims to see the flying ship and states that he vaguely remembers seeing something similar in his past. This small portion of the film, it is believed, brings the notion that parents are meant to grow up and behave in an adult manner, but must also still retain a bit of child-like mannerism. Overall, the idea is to never forget how it is to be a child and to have fun from the simplest things.

August 16th, 2010 Preschool

After reading that study about birth order correlating to a child’s growth, it got me to thinking about schooling. Is there a way to counter birth order with schooling? Can we take a first born and educate them on how to be more sociable? How do you increase the intelligence for younger siblings? Maybe it all starts in preschool. Dips Dixon has a pretty good idea of what to include in a preschool curriculum.
