April 18th, 2011 Aircraft Ownership is the New Symbol of High Status

When thinking of the lifestyles of the rich and famous the thing that most often comes to mind is the vast array of lavish houses, cars, and most importantly expensive toys that the wealthy can afford. Years ago to show true achievement in the socioeconomic hierarchy one would purchase elegant mansions, and cruise around in luxury and pricey spots vehicles. But now the standards have been purchased a bit further. No longer are expensive getaway trips year round, enormous yachts, and palatial multiple houses sufficient enough. Now, one must purchase their own aircraft.

Many popular songs hitting the airwaves discuss the star status of owning a private plane, the luxuries involved, and how it is one of the ultimate millionaire toys. For example one that many may be familiar with is a song titled, “Like a G6” written and performed by the band Far East Movement, which talks about the famous G6 plane. Similarly teen pop singer Jesse McCartney had a song like this, which was an instant hit among the younger generations.

Though the price tag for owning such a lavish form of transportation is exceedingly high, multi-millionaires not only have to fork over the funds for the plane itself but must also posses enough cash to pay for the aircraft engine parts when in need of repair, a pilot, maintenance, fuel, etc. Thus much like owning a vehicle, the expenses do not stop once the car is driven off the lot; though this example is rather miniscule in comparison to purchasing an aircraft.

Flying is an enjoyable experience, and perhaps because of this, wealthy individuals choose to allocate their funds into such an investment. Many well known stars own their own private planes such as multi-billionaire Donald Trump, John Travolta whom became a certified pilot, and singing sensation Paul McCartney. Thus the ownership of an aircraft has truly become a symbol for high socioeconomic status. The Mercedes, million dollar homes, and yacht will no longer cut it. One not only needs to worry about garage space for the luxury vehicles, but must also invest in a hanger to hold an airplane.

Thus, when fantasizing about making it big, or winning the large lottery jackpot, one of things that need to be added on the purchasing list is an aircraft. The notion of being whisked away to any destination, at any time, by simply requesting so is an indication of true power and social hierarchy. Not only this, but not having to deal with the hustle and aggravating processes at airports, and eliminating the uncomfortable seating arrangements on many economic flights, may be well worth the investment to many.

The polar opposite of these individuals are those who chose not to associate with the web, or detest the idea of utilizing it.

There is no amount of emphasis that could be place on how wonderful and ingenious the concept of the internet is. In a consumerist society online-shopping has become a large component due to the success of the World Wide Web, and has allowed consumers to purchase a variety of products from all over the world with a few simple clicks of a mouse.

As stated previously, the use of the internet allows users to not only make for easily comparable shopping, but allow suppliers to showcase all products and merchandise simultaneously. It is known that inventory in actual store locations is limited in space, thus many companies prefer the use of the web in order to minimize capacity space levels, and to simplify the shopping experience for consumers. A popular aircraft maintenance and repair site for example, AvMRO, allows their users to shop by category or by the many major brands offered. In addition to this, one can ask questions to experts when trying to locate all the tools needed for aircraft maintenance.

Many question the safety of using credit cards online, and because of this chose not to conduct their shopping in this fashion. Many webpage’s, such as AvMRO are hosted by servers that are compliant with the Cardholder Information Security Program, in which maintains the security of credit card users.

Thus the internet should not be something feared, but rather can be used for many wonderful things. As stated in the example given above, shopping for aircraft supplies has now been greatly simplified and made easier on consumers.

January 21st, 2011 The Luxurious Celebrity Lifestyle

Living the dream has always been a part of the lifestyle promises in the United States. As far as to what exactly that dream is varies from person to person. Some emigrating from other countries choose freedom, others simply want a prosperous but comfortable life. Yet others, perhaps mostly the majority, dream of laps of luxury. This includes sports cars, dream mansions, and the most popular growing trend: aircraft ownership.

With dozens of songs discussing different aircraft types and how the ownership of one shows platinum status, makes one consider it of something of grand transportation. Many well known celebrities such as Pair Hilton, Madonna and Tom Cruise to name a few, own an aircraft. John Travolta, the famous celebrity who has an official pilot license. In addition Bruce Dickinson, the lead singer of Iron Maiden is also an official pilot and flies a Boeing 757s. Would it not be great to be one of these lucky few individuals and be able to own a private jet and be whisked away to whatever destination dreamt of?

Many would agree but as most celebrities will share owning such a craft does come with some drawbacks, much like that of owning a vehicle—on a much grander scale of course. To being, one needs to decide where to purchase the aircraft parts supplies, and locate a trusted mechanic. In addition with rising gas prices, finding the funds to fuel such a method of transportation can be costly.

But this article is not set to discuss the downsides of owning a plan. In fact, it is meant to promote it. As stated earlier, when officially owning a private jet—regardless if the owner has his or her pilot’s license is truly of stamp of approval from a much higher and elite class. As many would say, one would then become part of “The sky high club” in a sense. One would be considered the envy of the neighborhood. It would definitely be something that would be discussed by family and peers.

With the ability to fly to any destination there would no longer be the need to wait in extremely long lines, get uncomfortably patted down by security, and most importantly avoid the risk of lost luggage. In addition to this, by owning a private jet no need to worry about the uncomfortable seating, or being the unfortunate soul stuck next to an individual who may not be the best person to fly with. Overall, owning an aircraft is new status symbol. Years ago it was clothes, and then graduated to high-end sports cars, to now the ownership of a private plan.

December 29th, 2010 A Whole New World For Those Who Own Airplanes

As if you didn’t already notice now a days, you can get just about anything on the internet. The thing is, though, people don’t seem to understand just how far reaching that “anything” is. In a way, the internet is like the universe: if you really thought about how big and far reaching it actually is, your mind would, well, probably explode. There are billions of websites out there (if not trillions, I haven’t counted lately) featuring everything from useless information, to useful information, to even more useless information, and, of course, goods and services. While the average person may use the internet to buy music, household goods, groceries and maybe a few other things, there are also a wide variety of things that are for sale online that the average person would never, ever dream of purchasing. For example, did you know that you could purchase a wide variety of different aircraft parts & supplies with a click of the mouse and a credit card? Probably not.

There is a good chance that the average person will never have to by aircraft parts and supplies online. But if you are in the industry, this is great. Not just because it’s easier than it used to be, but also because it’s no doubt cheaper than it once was. It used to be that if you were in the market for aircraft parts and supplies you would have to order it from some type of catalog. This meant that you would be stuck paying on particular price for your parts, especially because you were not able to compare and contrast different prices and selections out there.

While this probably won’t help airlines (as they produce and maintain their own parts and supplies, or at least have their own supply company), to the person who flies and maintains his own single aircraft or fleet, these types of online shops are nothing short of godsends. Not only can you get cheap prices and a great selection, but you can also get a wide variety of the same part, which means that if your plane works better on a certain brand, you can find different shops that offer that specific brand. It’s akin to a baker who wants a certain type of chocolate that used to only be available through a certain, expensive catalog. Now, with the internet, he can compare and contrast buying the chocolates from different online shops.

There are a good amount of online shops where you can get your airline parts and supplies, so if you are in the market for them, you better start doing your research. And for those who aren’t in the market for them and just want to look around, well, you are welcomed too.

Author Kimberly Green understands why it is so important to find sites with good information on aircraft parts & supplies and other topics.
