Chances are if you are planning a wedding you have a list. A big list. Probably the biggest, and in a sense, the most important list that you’ve ever complied in your life. Every single soon-to-be-check-marked item on that list represents one thing you need to do to make sure your wedding is perfect. No matter how big or small, everything on that list is not to be taken lightly as failing to do even the most mundane thing can be cause for a ton of worrying and unnecessary stress. With that firmly in mind, you need to make sure that you don’t leave the small stuff to the end. It’s natural to think that this kind of stuff can be done in your spare time in the days leading up to the wedding. These things, which may include everything from wedding favors to table decorations may not be daunting on their own, but combine them together at the last moment and you’ll find yourself with quiet a mountain to climb in the days leading up to the special day.
The most important things you can do when you put your list together is to think the whole process through. Separate things that are big things, and things that are small things into two separate lists. For example, purchasing a wedding dress is a bit thing; buying gifts for your wedding party is a small thing. Coming up with a menu that fits your needs is a big thing; figuring out what type of place card to put out on the table is a small thing. The thing about weddings is that the big things always have a tendency to get taken care of. Chances are nobody is going to forget about getting a wedding dress or feeding their guests, those are the first things you and your wedding planners will do together. That is why you need to tackle the small things first before you get overwhelmed with the big things.
There is no schedule that needs to be followed when planning the weddings. It’s not like you need to wait until after you get the dress to pick up your wedding favors or anything, you can get them whenever you want. Make a big effort to get as many of the small stuff done before you even start thinking about the big stuff. Get the place cards done the same time as your doing the invitations, and purchase the wedding favors while you are online getting the gifts for the wedding party. This way you’ll have everything done in the days leading up to the wedding.
So don’t fear the list, embrace it. The only way your wedding is going to be a complete disaster is if you leave everything to the end. You may be able to get away with cramming when it comes to science class in high school, but not on your wedding day.
Author Kimberly Green thinks that handling the details, such as wedding favors, is just as important as everything else.
When you are in charge of putting together a party, it’s the little things that you have to think about in order to make sure the party goes well. In a way, it’s a metaphor for life: it’s the little things that will derail your biggest plans. It’s like if you’re going on vacation and you spend five days planning the most perfect route and packing everything you need, it’s forgetting that little bottle of sleeping medication that will totally derail your whole trip. This analogy also works when you are planning a wedding. After six months of planning the biggest, and smallest, details, it’s typically the one little thing that you forgot to put on your list, or that you put off to the end, that will cause you the biggest headache. This is why you need to start thinking about wedding favors soon then later.
Wedding favors are exactly what they sound like they are: little gifts that you give to your attendees as a souvenir of your nuptials. Wedding favors can typically be split into two distinct categories: keepsakes and edible favors. With keepsakes you are dealing with things that you hope a guest will hold onto that will remind them of the ceremony or reception. One of my friend’s gave out little picture books of all of the important moments in their life together (including a picture of their wedding, which I was impressed that they added in just under three hours). Another of my friends gave out eco-friendly bamboo coasters as well commemorative golf balls (he is an avid golfer).
While keepsakes are nice, unless you get something that you know will be used, such as the bamboo coasters or something else for daily use, they have a tendency to be tossed into a drawer and thrown away during the next spring cleaning. Essentially, your keepsake turns into a waste of money. A cute waste of money, but a waste of money none the less. That is why many couples decide to go a different route and give away candy based wedding favors. Some companies offer personalized candy favors such as mint tins, wrapped candy, and even mini-gum ball machines. While these keepsakes might be used sooner than later, at least they will be used. Other couples decide to make their own chocolate candies by simply melting chocolate, putting them in pre bought molds and packaging them in plastic. Because, c’mon, who doesn’t like chocolate.
There is a lot of website out there that specialize in offering wedding favors for upcoming nuptials. And make sure to tackle them sooner rather than later so they are out of the way before they become any type of annoyance. You have much bigger fish to fry.

Wedding favors. Chances are if you’re in the midst of planning a wedding you’ve heard those two words quite often, yet really have no idea what they are. All you know is that you’re supposed to get little wedding gifts for those who have attended your wedding. Something like a keepsake that they will either cherish or throw away next time they do spring cleaning, you assume. At this point, though, you have so much to plan for your wedding that wedding favors are just something on the list that you’ll deal with when they time comes. They are somewhere between deciding what type of salad to serve at the reception and what type of flowers should be on the table where they hand out seating assignments.
You should put some thought into wedding favors, though, because even as they are a small part of your wedding they are still a part. While many companies offer pretty cool little wedding favor keepsakes for friends, there are some people who really enjoy going the route of making their own keepsakes. Not only does making your own give guests a more personalized feel, but it is also cheaper than buying wedding favors from shops or online sellers.
Everyone loves chocolate. Even people who claim they hate chocolate usually like either white or dark chocolate. This is why chocolate is the best DIY wedding favors you could ever make. And it’s more than just about the taste: whenever you give someone a gift that they can eat they tend to actually do so. One of the problems with trying to figure out what type of wedding favor to get purchase is that you have to deal with the fact that most people are probably never going to use them. Yes, they might think the small photobook of you and your husband is cute, but there is almost zero chance that it will end up anywhere but the trash or that drawer in your desk where you throw all the junk. With chocolate, or other types of candy, you know that it will at least be eaten.
You don’t even have to buy the chocolate favors, you can make your own with some simple melting chocolate and a couple of cheap molds you can get to a specialty shop. Find a mold you want, freeze the chocolate in it, put it in a bag tied with a ribbon and wallah: you have the best, and tastiest, wedding favors you could ever imagine.

What is a bridesmaid? A bridesmaid is typically a sister, relative or very close friend of the bride, and she is there to assist the bride with planning out the wedding. She is also there to lend a supportive and sympathetic ear, and perhaps a shoulder to cry on. In short, the bridesmaid is there for the bride during the busy and stressful time that is planning a wedding.
Because a bridesmaid does so much for the bride and her wedding, it’s only fair that a bride take the time to purchase a thoughtful gift for her. While the gift does not have to be very expensive, it should certainly be thoughtful and something that is of sentimental value.
What kind of gift might be appropriate for a bridesmaid? Well, jewelry certainly comes to mind. Jewelry is a very popular choice for bridesmaids gifts. Pearl necklaces, charm bracelets and diamond earrings all make wonderful choices for gifts for bridesmaids. Personalized items are also in high demand. Monogrammed towel sets, for the bridesmaid’s bathroom, or a beautiful satin robe with matching slippers, are two more examples of luxurious, thoughtful gifts that aren’t overly pricey.
Groomsmen should also be acknowledged for the time and energy they devote to helping the groom with his part in the wedding. A groomsman is often a brother or close relative of the groom, but may also be a close friend. He serves as an adviser to the groom before the wedding, and helps the groom remain organized and stay on task. Groomsmen may also pitch in during the wedding, helping with seating and reception organization.
Groomsmen should also be thought of and given gifts in exchange for their services during the wedding planning and the wedding itself. Groomsmen gifts might include such items as engraved watches or cuff links, a fancy tie complete with a tie pin, a personal grooming set, or even a set of golf clubs.
Regardless of what type of gift you purchase for a bridesmaid or a groomsman, it’s important to remember that it is the thought that counts. Bridesmaids gifts and groomsmen gifts are widely available, so there’s no reason not to take the time to search for an appropriate gift to give. Bridesmaids and groomsmen give a lot of themselves to help the bride and groom plan one of the most important days of their lives, so it’s important to recognize them and present them with a gift of significance in return.
Wedding planning is an exciting time for brides. There’s certainly a lot to plan, but most aspects of wedding planning are indeed a lot of fun to partake in. Invitations, bridesmaids gifts and groomsmen gifts happen to be a few of those wedding-related purchases that can be somewhat confusing. Hopefully this brief article can help you decide upon the best gifts to buy for your bridesmaids and groomsmen.
