I shop often for children’s clothes. Since I have a boy and a girl, there’s no such thing as hand-me-downs, except for what I wash, store and then give away to charities and local shelters and community resource centers. I most often shop at Target for clothes for my children, because the prices are reasonable, and the clothing is almost always in style, fashionable and practical. On most days I can tell you honestly that one or both of my kids is clothed from head to toe in Target clothing!
The nice thing about children’s clothes is that there are so many possibilities for styles! My daughter recently received a short-sleeved shirt that was on the long side, but rather than wait for her to grow into it, we simply paired it with a pair of leggings and a wide belt. Runway models could expect to pay hundreds of dollars for a similar outfit, but since I’m buying children’s clothes, I can expect to spend less than the cost of a gas tank fill up for the outfit.
Keeping children’s clothing looking nice is another thing altogether! When you pick out a nice outfit from a place like Sandbox Couture, or even a nice outfit from a local retailer, you want it to last. The key to keeping your child’s clothing looking nice is to treat stains right away. Rinse in cold water, and scrub with a bit of dish soap (I recommend Dawn). Don’t use warm water, because it will cause the stains to set in the children’s clothes. Keep to cold, and wash the clothes on cold. Use a high quality detergent, like Tide or Downy, and consider using bleach for whites, and color-safe bleach for colored clothing.
Another trick to keeping children’s clothes looking nice is to keep like colors together in the wash and dry cycles. Pair denims with reds, and light colors with other light colors. Also, for those fancier outfits with sequins, screen printing and the like, turn the articles of clothing inside out to protect the embellishments during cleaning.
Finally, remember to dress your child so that he or she looks her very best, no matter what the occasion! If you have a little girl, mix and match pants, skirts, dresses, leggings and tops to make multiple outfits out of just a few articles of children’s clothes. For little boys, never underestimate the cuteness factor of overalls or a vest!
Now that Winter has settled in, many people are looking to create a warm, inviting home environment since they will be spending a great deal of time indoors. One of the most popular ways to do this is with a Comfort Candle or fragrance lamp.
For the candle lover a Comfort Candle is perfect. Comfort Candles provide just the right amount of light to give a room that special ambiance. These resin tea light holders come in many different shapes and sizes and have a variety of inspirational sayings. The inspirational sayings can help to lift your mood and certainly make you smile.
The best part about Comfort Candles is that they can be used over and over again by simply replacing the tea light. There’s no mess and no worry about having to figure how to relight a burned down wick. Tea lights are inexpensive and do last a fair amount of time.
Comfort Candles can spruce up any room in the house and are therefore used quiet often as a decorative piece. They also make an excellent gift choice for anyone on your list! You can make your choice based on design or saying.
Some people are partial to fragrance lamps. A fragrance lamp is actually a catalytic diffusion lamp that purifies the air while imparting a fragrance. Fragrance lamps have been around a very long time. In fact, they date back to the 1800s and have shown to be safe and effective.
A fragrance lamp diffuses aroma into the air while it purifies. This is definitely a plus during the winter months when many people must keep the windows in their homes closed. Some of the fragrance lamp oils used are essential oils, giving the lamps an aromatherapy application as well.
One of the most loved aspects of the fragrance lamp is the way they operate. The process is initiated by lighting a stone burner, which is seated at the mouth of the lamp. After about two to three minutes the flame is blown out but the heated burner remains active.
The fragrance lamp does not operate with an open flame, making it quite safe. However, the lamp fuel contains 90% isopropyl alcohol and should be regarded as a highly flammable liquid. Initially, to start the catalytic wick it is necessary to light the catalytic burner with a flame and let it burn for approximately two to three minutes until it reaches the correct operating temperature. Of course caution should still be used when operating a fragrance lamp but it is much safer than having a constant open flame.
The lower operating temperature allows the aromatics to be diffused very efficiently into the air without being burned. One of the by-products of these fragrance lamps is low-level ozone, which has been attributed to the purification process of the lamps in reducing bacteria and eliminating odor. This alone is an excellent reason to choose to use fragrance lamps on a regular basis!
Fragrance lamps come in all shapes, sizes and colors. Some are made of crystal and some are even hand painted. Just as the Comfort Candles, they too can be used to decorate a room and give a comfortable warm feeling. Each has it’s own unique way of making a house feel more like a home.

With today’s socially conscious crowds transitioning into parenthood it’s becoming more and more important to balance style with personality.
With the new generation of 20 something’s becoming parents for the first time they are looking for trend breaking ways to raise their children and often clothing is paramount for family and individual style. For decades baby cloths have been a bit bland in style but that’s no longer the case. Gone are the simple designs and awful colors we all grew up with and here are the silk-screened designs that scream individuality! It’s no longer necessary to fit the child to the style available on the rack. It’s now possible to fit the child’s personality with the multitude of styles that are just waiting to bring out the nuances of your child’s personality that make them so special to you.
It can be difficult to gauge the style of your child’s personality so often parents look to their own style trends to outfit their children. This is a sure fire way to dress your child in something that won’t fit their personal style. Face it; no matter how great we look our children always look cooler when they get to have input on their own style. It’s important to take some time to understand the personality that your child has. Watch them; see what they gravitate to when it comes to textures, colors and patterns. What excites them? cool baby onesies? Is your child suited for an “Ooh La La Mama Onesie Skulls n Stripes” or are they better suited for a “Ooh La La Onesie Rock Star” outfit? The choice is yours but the true test of approval will come from the personality of your child when they are wearing it. Remember, if their eyes light up it’s a good bet they will like wearing it.
Some kids will never wear anything like that awesome red and white flowered Hawaiian shirt you got a few weeks ago. Everyone likes it on you but your child’s personality might be screaming for a hoodie, a skateboard and a Onesie that says “my mommy loves me.”
With the explosion of Internet retailing it’s easy to surf the web and find cool kids clothes that suits your child’s personality. Don’t be afraid to let you kid sit on your lap as you peruse clothing websites. When they express interest in that “Flowers by Zoe” black dress, get it for them! It may just end up being the perfect fit for their personality! Ultimately this will make shopping easier for you, more fun for your child and will help to inspire them to find their own identity!

Traditionally men’s wedding rings have been your basic gold or white gold bands that have been far less extravagant than their counterpart women’s wedding bands. The reasons for this are obvious. Men traditionally required less extravagance to satisfy their tastes and also, it’s about all a man could afford after spending the majority of his life savings on that diamond!
As we transition from an industrial nation, men’s tastes have evolved to desire small embellishments and men have become a little more refined in their tastes. Nowhere is this more evident than in the world of men’s rings. What once was simple understated and economical in styling has become a market that has exploded with revolutionary designs and very unique styling.
With new contemporary alloys like palladium, tungsten, titanium and black titanium choices for the type of metals used are vastly superior to the metals used in previous years. With companies like Artcarved inlaying 18 ct gold into their titanium rings and designers like Edward Mirell making black titanium rings inlaid with grey titanium and three diamond sets, it’s obvious that we have reached a new pinnacle in the development of marriage rings for men.
For those of you not looking to make the most important commitment in your lives just yet fear not, rings are not just being made for the men who are getting married. The market has exploded for designers making rings for everyday use. They are looking for rings to relay a sense of style and refinement. Rings designed to shine but yet maintain a rugged look. Today’s rings are for the everyday man, which is evidenced by the exclusive Orange County Choppers collection available only from a select dealer. These designs are as radical as the bikes being made in upstate New York and show off a sense of ruggedness that most men dream of.
Every day use of rings to show style has become an important part of our culture. Every professional sports franchise presents rings to their champions at the end of each season which are proudly warn to show the world that they are champions. You may not have a Super Bowl ring to wear but you can easily show the world your fashion style with a multitude of rings like the very limited, highly sought after Timoku style rings made by Edward Mirell. Rings like the Timoku beveled edge band are very hard to find and will be valuable for years to come.
If you are looking for the special design for your wedding day or you are looking for the perfect style for your night out on the town then the world is your oyster! These revolutionary designs are waiting for you but hurry because they don’t always last long!

The baby shower is a time-honored tradition that has transcended many different cultures over centuries of generations. While times have changed, the idea of offering practical, helpful and unique gifts has remained paramount when trying to find that perfect gift for mommy and baby.
Today’s incarnation of the baby shower started shortly after WW2 and has become quite the celebration of life. We’ve transitioned from small family oriented celebrations to larger parties that, in some cases include entire towns and last several days. In America, traditions have stopped with pre-birth celebrations that usually see party sizes ranging from close personal family to large circles of friends.
If you are the mommy to be, a baby shower can be one of the most exciting times of your life. After all, that day is strictly to celebrate new life and a bond between mother and child. It should be a blessed day filled with joy. For a party participant it can be a day filled with emotions that stir up memories of a first child or for future plans for children. It can also stir up emotions of competitiveness. After all we are all human and pulling out the “best gift of the day” award is quite the accomplishment!
If your goal is to share in the glowing light of mommy-hood as well as being the top gift giver in the crowd it is very important to select a thoughtful, useful and exciting gift that will not only serve as a functional item but as a keepsake for years to come. One such item is the tiered diaper birthday cake that not only gives a great cake for future diaper storage it comes with 200 very practical disposable diapers. If you are going for the sentimental “hand me down” heirloom, the Rockabye Baby Rocking Horse would be an excellent time honored and traditional choice!
Often the grand slam of baby shower gifts will be the baby’s first plush teddy bear. A unique gift in that same realm would be the Jo-Jo Giraffe stuffed animal or Bailey the bunny cashmere bunny. If you decide to go this route, be cautious and check out the color scheme and layout of the baby’s new room. A bunny in a room of teddy bear prints would stand out like a sore thumb.
Ultimately the perfect baby shower gift doesn’t come down to how much money is spent but the thoughtfulness of the gift. Listen to the mommy, take notice of what the baby’s room looks like and find the perfect gift that will not only fit the needs of the mommy but will serve as a great keepsake for the baby.
